Fundamentals of Healthcare Communication course was created by Translate Nursing LLC. This course is designed for foreign-born healthcare professionals and their families who may need more education and support in achieving optimal and successful transformation into their new culture. Effective communication is essential. This course consists of five lectures and a final quiz to test your knowledge. In-depth explanation of verbal, non-verbal and written communication is provided. Upon completion of the class you will have basic knowledge on how to correctly write emails, document and correct errors as accepted by the United States communication etiquette. You will learn how correctly communicate with your patients and families, this process is also known as “bedside manners”.
This course is delivered primarily through spoken lecture. Because the skill you are learning is speaking related, it only makes sense that you learn through speaking.
The skill you will learn in this class is not primarily theoretical or academic. It is a skill that requires physical habits. That is why you will be asked to take part in numerous exercises where you record yourself speaking on video, and then watching yourself. Learning presentation skills is like learning how to ride a bicycle. You simply have to do it numerous times and work past the wobbling and falling off parts until you get it right.
